Torque Information
Torque Guide
Pro-Bolt offers a full strength range across three materials to meet any requirement. Pro-Bolt strongly recommends that any fitment of bolts is carried out at a certified workshop. Damage or injury caused by incorrectly fitted bolts is not covered by warranty.
While our accessories have been pre-verified for fitment against each vehicle model, manufacturers may make changes mid-year without notice, so always verify based on the actual vehicle before fitting. If you are unsure about installation, we recommend having the work carried out at a certified workshop.
When fitting bolt kits, work one bolt at a time. Grease where required and observe the correct length and torque values. Use plastic washers to protect paintwork and plastic parts on bolts securing screens and fairings. The colour collar supplied with fairing kits can be inserted easily into fairings in the same way as the original bolt.
At all times, observe the following guidelines.
Aluminium
Manufactured from aerospace-grade 7075 T6 aluminium with an anodised finish for strong corrosion resistance, these are our lightest products. Aluminium is 60% lighter than steel. Available in Blue, Black, Gold, Orange, Purple, Red and Silver. As aluminium bolts are among the lightest and most flexible metal fasteners, do not use in areas subject to high stress — e.g. brake calipers, suspension mounts, footrests, grab bars.
Areas where aluminium bolts can be used: engine casings, fairings, screens, fuel caps, number plates, heel guards, chain guards, etc. Always grease properly. Do not over-torque. Aluminium is light and, being a soft metal, also helps protect plastic parts such as fairings and chain guards from damage. Follow the guidelines in the instructions supplied with the product.

Stainless Steel
Not all stainless steel is suitable for stressed areas, but Pro-Bolt 316 stainless steel can be used on: engine casings, fairings, screens, front axle pinch, caliper pinch bolts, caliper mounting bolts, footrest hanger bolts, clip-on handlebar bolts, brake/clutch pinch perch, top/bottom yoke clamp bolts, sprocket nut, disc bolts, etc.

Titanium
Safety First. Before starting work, ensure the motorcycle is secured and use a maintenance stand if required. Work carefully in a safe space, observing torque values.
When fitting:
- Verify that the Pro-Bolt replacement matches the original fitted bolt — diameter, pitch and length must all match. If in doubt, contact Pro-Bolt before fitting. Disc bolts and brake caliper bolts are safety-critical — take particular care.
- Use a T-handle or torque wrench to prevent galling.
- Use appropriate grease or thread lock as required.
- For flanged hex head and tapered socket cap bolts, follow the vehicle manufacturer's specified torque.
- For dome head and countersunk bolts, follow the guide in these instructions.
- After fitting new parts, test ride with care. Confirm the fitted parts are functioning correctly. If in any doubt, contact Pro-Bolt before riding.
Disc Rotor Bolts
These are designed to replicate the dimensions of the vehicle manufacturer's original bolts. Because the head profile is low and the socket is small and shallow, we recommend medium-strength thread lock for titanium and stainless disc rotor bolts. Use a T-handle or torque wrench to prevent galling. Torque values:Cam Cover Fitment — Top Cam Cover Bolts
When replacing bolts, work one at a time. Work carefully to prevent thread damage and galling. Use both the vehicle manufacturer's sealant and the Pro-Bolt supplied sealant. Follow the vehicle manufacturer's specified torque.Side Cam Cover Bolts
When replacing bolts, work one at a time. Replace the crush washer with a new one and follow the vehicle manufacturer's specified torque.General Application Torque Values
For titanium and stainless steel, follow the vehicle manufacturer's specified torque. For flanged hex head and tapered socket cap bolts in performance-critical areas, follow the vehicle manufacturer's specified torque.
